Feros Care has partnered with the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) to help people with disability live healthy, fulfilling and connected lives.

As a partner in the community, we provide Local Area Coordinators (LACs) that will link you to the NDIS and to mainstream and community supports in your area. A Feros Care Local Area Coordinator will work with you to understand what is important to you and connect you to the support services that will support you to live the life you want.

You might like to be more involved in the community through the arts or sport. Maybe your goal is to live more independently, get healthier or further your education. Everyone has different aspirations and we want to help you achieve yours with the support of the NDIS.

WHAT ARE NDIS CORE SUPPORTS?

Your NDIS Core Supports are tailored to meet your goals and improve your overall wellbeing. Core Supports are the most flexible of the three types of support budgets (NDIS Core Supports, Capacity Building Supports and Capital Supports) that may be funded in your NDIS plan, enabling you to move your Core Supports budget from one support category to another. NDIS Core Supports fit into four categories:

Category 1: Assistance with Daily Living

This category of Core Supports provides assistance with daily living and helps you to be as independent as possible at home. It provides funding for activities like cooking, cleaning, personal hygiene and gardening, and can also be used to fund respite care.

Category 2: Transport Allowance

You may be eligible for a transport allowance if you’re unable to use public transport to access your supports because of your disability. If eligible, you or your transport provider will be paid directly by your NDIS Plan Manager or the NDIA.

 Category 3: Consumables

Consumables are the everyday items that you need and use daily because of your disability and includes a range of products and assistive equipment. Funding may also be used for Auslan or interpreter services, or to pay for the costs of an assistance dog.

Category 4: Assistance with Social & Community Participation

Category 4 Core Support provides support that enables you to participate in community, social and recreational activities. While it doesn’t cover activity costs, it can be used to fund, for example, transport or a support worker to help you attend an event or activity.
